Embarking on Your Linux Journey: Your First Boot
Congratulations on installing Linux! This is an exciting step into a world of customisation, flexibility, and open-source software. Let's get you booted into your new operating system and ready to explore.
Step 1: Restart Your Computer
First things first, restart your computer. If you used a USB drive or other media for installation, make sure to remove it before rebooting.
Step 2: Navigating the Boot Menu (If Necessary)
Some systems will automatically boot into Linux after installation. If yours doesn't, don't worry! As your computer starts up, keep an eye out for a message that says something like "Press [key] to enter boot menu" (the key might be F2, F12, Esc, or something else). Press the indicated key to access the menu.
Once in the boot menu, use your arrow keys to find the Linux entry (it might be the name of your distribution, like "Ubuntu" or "Fedora") and press Enter to select it.
Step 3: Welcoming Linux: Your Login Screen
Your computer should now be booting into Linux! Soon, you'll be greeted by a login screen. Enter the username and password you created during installation, and press Enter to unlock your new Linux world.
Step 4: Your Linux Adventure Begins!
Welcome to your fresh Linux desktop! Take a moment to look around and get familiar with the layout. You'll likely find a panel or dock at the bottom or side with application launchers, and a menu button for accessing all of your installed programs. Double click on the white question mark in the blue circle located on the dock to get some help, navigating the system.

Additional Setup: You might be prompted with some initial setup tasks, like setting your time zone or connecting to Wi-Fi. Just follow the on-screen instructions.
Updating Your System: It's always a good practice to install updates as soon as possible. These often contain important bug fixes and security patches. Look for a "Software Updater" or "Package Manager" application and let it do its thing.
